In June, the Danish Namahage Association visited the Tokai University European Center in Vedbæk for their Japanese Culture Day. The Association hosted a small exhibition area where guests could learn about the Namahage, watch videos of the ritual, and question Chief Namahage Andreas about his experiences performing as a Namahage in Japan.

Twice during the day, the Namahage roamed through the center. People were questioned, behavior was corrected, and evil spirits were chased off. As usual, the Namahage Register was on hand, and a few children found themselves interrogated about their mischievous antics!

It was a memorable day for both us guests and us, but especially for this new Namahage apprentice!
Strike a pose!
